HELP SUPPORT OUR CAUSE

Graduation ceremony at the University of Guelph

The Scottish Studies Foundation is a registered charitable organization dedicated to actively supporting the Scottish tradition in Canada at the academic level through various levels of education.

In 2004 we endowed the landmark Scottish Studies Foundation Chair of Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph and continue to support the Scottish Studies Centre in the College of Arts at Guelph which has become the leading academic unit in North America for research, graduate training, and teaching on Scottish history and Scottish culture. It has a special emphasis on the history of the Scottish-Canadian community and continues to gain an enviable reputation both nationally and abroad and is helping countless scholars in the pursuit of their academic goals.

The University of Guelph's library has the largest collection of Scottish documents outside the United Kingdom and in 2018, as part of the library's renovation program, the Foundation funded the installation of a digital archive facilty which allows this unique collection of rare and unique Scottish books and manuscripts to be digitized and placed online. A tribute to the Foundation's role in this and other initiatives can be seen here.

Currently, our focus is centered on the funding of in-course student scholarships and you can help by becoming a member or by donating, either online by clicking on the PayPal button below, or by mail using our donation form which you can access here. All donations, large or small, will be greatly appreciated.

We are actively looking for new members and volunteers to help with the various activites we organize throughout the year and are always interested in hearing from people who may have ideas for interesting projects that they think might help our cause. Members receive a copy of the International Review of Scottish Studies which is published annually and copies of our newsletter, The Scots-Canadian.

You can enrol as a new member or renew your exising membership online here.
